| It had been sometime around three in the morning a few days ago when Lazarus had broken into the National Guard Armory in the city. The guards were all sleepy and slow and he, being completely nonreflective, had an easy time getting around them and into the storage rooms, where he had taken... excuse me. Borrowed. A gun.
Gun, actually, wasn't the best way to put it. It was more than just a gun, Lazarus realized once he had dreamed himself back to the Fortress and had the time to admire it. The 'gun' was actually an assault rifle, a Barrett REC7, to be specific, and it was in fine condition: it had recently been stripped and oiled well, and it was gleaming.
Lazarus was dying to try it out.
That night, though, he couldn't stand it anymore. His shiny, new, borrowed rifle was lying on an oilcloth in his closet, begging to be used. As he paced his room (which was actually his usual activity), he kept glancing back to the closet: the door was open and he could see a faint glimmer (or at least he thought he did, because the room was without light). A wide grin cracked along his face, and his pacing finally ended. We all have to give into our urges sometime or another.
The gun felt pleasantly heavy, cradled in his arms, as he switched off the safety and loaded the magazine with one of the clips he had also stolen. It held 30 rounds, but he wasn't sure he needed that much. It felt nice, though, knowing he had a full clip to play with. Lazarus slipped out the door and into the dark hallway, snickering softly. The door swung shut without a sound as he stepped into the dark.
It was a few long minutes into the corridor before he found what he was looking for: in this giant building, why were the maids so hard to find at night? She had just been finishing her duty for the night: she was out very late for some reason. Lazarus smiled and thanked the maid for being so dutiful as he raised the rifle to his shoulder.
((TL;DR Lazarus is a freak.))

| Sleep. It was a rare luxury. To some, it was all they ever did; those lazy bums. To others, it was part of the routine of everyday life but they didn't think to much about it. To Preston, it was part of his life in more ways than one, but not how others think of it. Most normal people (he certainly is not normal) sleep at night; sleep in; host sleep-overs. But sleep was petty. It was when your mind was most vulnerable. When you allow yourself to dream, and totally relax. And then after wards when you wake up; you're always all groggy, and slow. You aren't able to move with agility, and speed. It's dangerous, but for some they don't care. Right when they wake up, or in the early morning is always best time to attack the fallen.
That is why Preston planned at night. The darkest hour was his.
At the moment, he lay flat on his belly, sprawled on his bed thumbing through a flimsy paper back novel. Preston might not seem like one to read much, but his hour was also his time to show he really did care. Funny as it may seem, he cared alot about his education. He figured that if he could finish college with a degree, he would be more assured that he could get a good job, and no one would ever suspect that a proper man of the working class would be evil and prone to attacking teenagers. If some how humans could understand. They didn't realize that with a total and complete darkness surrounding them, they would never have to go through emotions. The only thing they would feel would be the drowsy sense of duty. Duty to the Shadows. Glorious days predicted in your near future!
He hears something in the hall, and soundlessly slides off the bed. Preston switches the light off in his room, and stealthily cracks his door open. He sneaks across the hall, and looks over the banister. There was that fallen. He was an odd one. Betraying his own kind; he didn't understand it. He wasn't objecting to him helping, it just wasn't normal. He held a gun; something that looked really official. He held it up to a maids face, grinning. He assumed that was a good thing. He leans on his palms, and watch. %Is it ok if I join you?

| ((Go right ahead!))
Three shots pierced the silence. Lazarus was well versed in guns, and he knew that even a suppressor wouldn't cover the noise completely, but only muffle it by about 30 decibels. It did, however, eliminate the flash almost entirely as the first bullet pierced the right lower side of the maid's skull, the second ripped through the back of her neck, and the third collided with her left shoulder blade. She was dead before she hit the floor: thankfully Lazarus had gotten a couple of goods shots before that bad third one, and she hadn't even screamed, having been faced away from him at the time. He rested the rifle against him waist to put a hand against his lips and muffle his cackles as the blood leaked onto the floor. There wasn't a particularly large amount of blood, he noted between giggles, splattered on the walls and floor except for the spot where the body fell: since it was a high-velocity splatter from near point-blank range, the three stains were all very small and collected.
Once his laughter subsided, he stared long and hard down at the dead girl before him. Now, regrettably, his play was over and he had to pick up his toys. Lazarus tucked the gun under his arm and bent down to hook his arms under the maid's before proceeding to drag her lifeless corpse down the hall, snickering softly.

| %Yeah, thats horrifying. I would be very proud of that post. xD Preston slinks down the stairs, and calls out to the man. Your friend? He wonders, noddiing to the maid in his arms. He smirks, and comes closer, looking curiously. | |

| Lazarus turned his head at an uncomfortable angle to glance back at the other shadowy man. "Her? I have not the sliiightest clue who she is, but she's certainly fun to play with..." His jackboots click softly against the tiled floor and make a sickening squelch when he moves through the maid's pool of blood. "Unfortunately, I may have played too rough with her, and she's... all tired out, now." The Risen cackled dryly, glancing behind him down the dark hall.
"You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest broom closet is, do you?"
((The posts I wrote with Laz bending his fingers the wrong way and trying to do weird stuff with his neck were creepier to write, though, somehow.))

| Down the hall to the left. Just be careful, thats where I keep my dead bodies too. He says smirking. One of the best things about this place is the nice maids that are so kind as to let you screw with them. Literally. He adds as an after thought. Where did you find that lovely weapon; by the way? %Where is that? | |

| "You're too kind, Master. I'll watch out for them," he says, smirk growing, as he pull the maid farther down the hall. The blood seeps into the caulking in between the tiles as he slowly moves her away: he's too skinny to pull her much faster and hold his gun at the same time. "It's one of my many, Little Brother, and how I got it is a trade secret, I'm afraid." A short, loud burst of laughter fills the room and ebbs away as quickly as it started, almost as if it wasn't there to begin with, but rather was a record pop in the workings of the universe. | |

| Preston follows the man down the hall, side stepping the lovely trail of blood. Once he gets closer he picks the gun from the mans hand, and turns it over looking at it approvingly. Fancy. | |

| "Isn't it? Brand-new Barrett REC-7 assault, Vector suppressor, Luxwood tactical scope... too bad it's not concealable, right?" Lazarus grinned as if he were discussing a shared boating hobby as he drug the maid's form to the closet and opened the door. "Fortunately I have plenty other toys that are a little less conspicuous," He grunted a little as he hefted the corpse into her new home, among the other dead bodies.
"Say, I don't remember you, friend. Mind introducing yourself?" Lazarus says in a deep, quiet voice, chewing on his lower lip.

| Preston. Preston says still looking at the gun; no doubtly stolen. This guy must be pretty good to get past National Guard. If that is, where the gun was from. And yourself? You're that goofy Fallen right? He resists the urge to speak the latter. | |

| For a moment Lazarus was nonresponsive, admiring his handiwork inside the broom closet, before he closed the door and turned around to the other man. "Lazarus Cain, if you please. The Risen." He gives a satisfied smirk before reaching out his hands to take his equipment back. | |

| Hearing that term applied wiped the smile right off Lazarus's face. "Fallen," he said with a soft snarl, "Implies that I still wish to see light. I am not Fallen. I am Risen." The sour look stayed glued to Lazarus's face as he examined the gun for any unejected shells. "I'd prefer you didn't use that term with me." | |

| Seeing that the gun was safely back in Lazarus' hand, Preston decided not to argue. Just pointing something out; but Risen it is. He mutters holding his hands up like a he understood and didn't mean to impose. | |

| The grin returned to his face as he turned back to face Preston, tucking the gun under his arm. "No worries, friend. I don't mind." He tipped his head to one side. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some cleaning of my own to do..."
With that Lazarus turned and began to walk past Preston into the dark hall he had drug the maid off from. Suddenly he was struck with a thought, and he stood there, thinking on it, before turning around once more and looking back at the other shadow.
"Although, if you want to set a playdate, I can bring a toy or two for you. Tomorrow night?"

| Just about to head the other way, Pretson is stopped by the mans voice. He turns slowly, and places his fingers together, laying his pointer fingers on his chin. Sounds spectacular. He says, smiling. How spectacular it would be... | |

| THE NEXT NIGHT:
Preston stood on a small balcony overlooking the dark and forboding waves. He was wearing a pair of light blue faded jeans, and a thin cyan shirt. He personally thought he looked like he was from some beach town. The cold that normally killed captured stars, felt like only a slight breeze against his skin. He loved it here, at the Fortress. He couldn't understand what would make someone want to leave, and search for light that you just enjoyed and didn't steal. Light was nice, and kept you feeling good, but dark was always so much better. He rub his hands on the thighs of his pants, and smirks at the dark waves.

| Lazarus slipped out of the dark hall and up to the side of the man standing by the window. "Hey, friend. You're really wearing that?" he said with a snicker, peering at the other's bright clothes and comparing them to his olive-toned jacket and black jeans. "Oh well, it shouldn't matter for long."
Lazarus reached into his jacket and produced a pair of handguns: one was a Smith and Wesson, the other was a Glock model. "Take your pick," Lazarus said softly, licking his lips.

| I can let people think I am carefree on the outside, no need to scare them off with the dark inside. Preston mutters, and takes the Smith and Wesson. I have a particular friend I would like to visit with this... He says softly, his oddly colored golden eyes glowing. | |

| "Ooh, a visit. Any chance you might tell me who you're visiting?" Lazarus said, replacing the Glock in the shoulder holster. "Or can I guess? The Master? The Princess?" Yeah, Lazarus, like that really explains who you're thinking of. | |

| %That's hilarious. Preston raises an eyebrow, and runs his finger gently along the gun. Just a girl who's been giving me trouble. He mutters, and heads down the hall. | |
