I pushed the grocery cart along and down the cereal aisle. Hmmm coco puffs or fruit loops, oh the hard dicsisions of life.

I slid my hand along the shelf, knocking off a dozen cereal boxes and causing the woman next to me to stare. "Big family," I say, giving her a thumbs up. I run a hand through my hair and turn to my brother. "Sammy, you can't have cocoa puffs for breakfast. It's like eating chocolate."

"Exactly!" I said "and don't call me Sammy" I said, pushing the thought that I enjoyed it to the back of my mind.

I sigh and roll my eyes, taking the cereal box from his hands. I put it back on the shelf. "It's not healthy."

I huffed and crossed my arms. But I couldn't argue with my sister, she got what she wanted. I continued sulking as we went down various aisles getting large quantities of food that made everyone stare. As we passed the check out, I groaned. They never left us alone. "Sis" I said under my breath. "black eyes on checkout four"

"Thanks," I muttered, steering the cart to checkout 10. "And stop acting like a baby." I added. "You're the one that is always tell me to treat you like you're older."

Typical older sister. I decidedbto change the subject since I couldn't think of a good comeback. "have you ever thought of joining the council?"

I raised my eyebrows and shrugged. "I guess...." I kept one eye on the dark figure. "You could if you wanted, I think."

I rush back to Sammy, and Smarts with my arms bursting with fruits and vegetables. I come up to them panting. Hey guys, did you forget about me? I ask laughing, not really noticing that there was one of Them lurking at a check out.

I frown slightly at Sammy and then laugh with Diggs, taking some of the stuff from her. "Oops, I guess I forgot when you went to the bathroom. And then Sammy..." I shrug, not wanting to embarrass him by telling Diggs all our family problems.

K: wait, I thought you said it would be Cori, not Diggs? I can edit.

I frowned."I told you not to call me Sammy" I mumbled so low I dought she could hear me. "Hey Diggs" I said. Then, to make sure she was aware of the, er, problem at hand I whispered softly. "doesn't the candy look exeptionally delicious on check out four"

"We aren't getting candy...." I stop when I realize what my brother is saying. "Yeah, it does look delicious, but we are not going over there to get candy." I try to give Diggs a warning look.

I raise an eyebrow at them, extremly confused. My mouth waters at the mention of candy, but when I glance over at what they were talking about, I stiffen. Right.

I smiled at her confused face. I realized how ridiculous or conversation would sound to sn eavesdropper. "Allright, let's get outta here." Right as the words came out of my mouth the checkout mans dark eyes met my bright ones and I could feel the energy as the two powerful forces collided. I shuddered and suddenly felt very weak.

"Sammy!" I was immediately terrified and furious. Rage roared in my ears as I strode over to aisle four. "DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT TO MY BROTHER!" I shrieked. And then I whammed my fist into the side of his head. Immediately I got a blow in response. My vision darkened as I flew backward, smashing into the candy and making it pour everywhere.

I smiled as my sister gave one of them a killer punch. I felt like yelling out to everyone "that girl who just punched that guy gor apparently no reason, that's my sister!" My pride soon turned to concern when she get hit back. Now it was my turn to be angry. I ran around and ducked under a shelf. When his back was turned I ran up and kicked him in the back and ducked under the shelf again.

I blearily opened my eyes and took a moment to focus. My vision is only screwed, I thought mildly. My brother was not near one of Them without my protection. My back hurt. I was concerned about my back. Maybe if I just closed my eyes again.....then it registered.

I launched myself off the ground, breathing hard as the man came at me again. I ducked and grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his back and kicking his legs out from under him. I heard something crack. All that training has finally paid off, I thought smugly.

It sure seemed like they could handle the man, so I turned to the other dazed customers. I started hearding them out of the doors, in case this got worse.

I was finally going through the movements. I didn't feel scared at all. Then came the ultimate mistake-I relaxed. The guy grabbed his knife and sliced my leg. No one ever EVER touches the things that let me run. EVER. I was about to totally go mad when I realized, 1) I was being pressed against the floor, 2) I had a knife on my throat, 3) he was trying to look me in the eyes.
"Uh, Diggs? Little help here?" I wheezed.

"Course she askes Diggs to help. Cuz i'm obviously uncapeable." I mutter to myself. Amazing that when my sister has I knife at her throat and I'm scared to death I can still grumble at her. I didnt want to shove the guy, because the knife might go into her throat. So I did the logical thing. I screamed.

I felt the blade press into my throat harder, and then felt a warm trickle. My blood, I realized. I closed my eyes and tried to figure out what I was going to do. I was sure of one thing- I would not let Sammy fight this man. Over my dead body.

Get outside. I yell to the few shoppers still staring at us like we were from some reality show and any minute the camera crew would pop out and yell SUPRISE! Not gonna happen, sadly. I grab one of those portable aersol cans from a check out line, and rip open the casing. After a few moments of struggling, I manage to get the thing spraying, and aim it at the mans eye. I let it rip, and it hits him squarly in the face, causing him to cough and lower the knife from Smarts neck for a moment. I grab her hand and drag her away far enough out of his arms reach. I frantically look for something else to attack the man with, and in a desperate final descision, I grab a cartoon of milk a dazzled customer left on the scanner. Hopefully, this guy was lactose intolerant.

*OMG!!!! THAT MILK THING IS HILARIOUS!!!!

All of the sudden I can breath again. For a minute I sit on the floor gagging, greedily gulping in lungfuls of air. As my brain starts functioning again, I see Diggs run to the conveyor belt and grab a carton of milk.....it gives me a crazy idea. I half run, half limp away from the scene and down another aisle. I pull out my pocketknife and slice open three water gun packages, the kinds you can find on the kiddie aisle. Then I hurry to the next aisle, grabbing a jumbo container of "Naga Jolokia-The Hottest Hot Sauce in the World." I fill the water guns and return to the fight.
"Heads up, Diggs!" I throw a water gun to her. "Be careful, Sammy!" I give him the other one and point my own directly at the man's eyes. "FIRE!"

I watch Smarts out of the corner of my eye, and try to focus on the man in front of me, not the crazy idea she has. I slam the milk jug over his head, causing it to crack, and ooze down the side. The people out side cast us funny looks, and I see a few grabbing cameras and cell phones. I pray no one thought to call the police; us fallen had enough on our shoulders besides being wanted by the government. I smirk wickedly when the water gun is tossed to me. I prepare to take aim, and feel so glad that I have two amazing fighters at my back.
