| I hold on to Junie's tiny hand, and lead her into the grand kitchen. I lift her up, and set her in a chair. I sit on the edge of the table looking at her. What would you like? I say stiffly. | |

| Yeah, tons of food, anything you want...we most likely got it. I tell her, hopping down from the table. I walk over to the cabinets, and fling them open one by one, showing her the wide array of food avaliable to her. I'm fine. I tell her sharply, and then I smile to try to cover up my uncomfortableness. I had never felt this way about any thing, or anyone. It was like, compassion. Almost as if I would die if she left me. I hated it. It made me feel vulnerable, and uptight. I didn't know what to do, so I just looked down, and waited for her to say something in that angelic voice of a little girl. | |

| Psh. I scoff. Lying, to you? I smile, at her, and swoop her up setting her on the counter in front of a cabinet full of food. Naw, lying isn't my style. I tell her my face turned away. | |

| I sigh. Then I turn his head so he is facing me. With one arm, I pretend that two fingers are scissors. I make a chopping sound and move my fingers around the outside of his face. Next I pretend to grab something near his hairline and pull. "Aaargh," I close my eyes and pull hard on nothing at all, finally pretending to peel something all the way off his face. Then I hop down and look under the sink, find a garbage can, and promptly chuck my imaginary object inside. I look up at him. "There. I just cut off your mask. You can't hide behind it anymore." I feel very proud of myself. | |

| I cover my mouth with my hand, and hide the laugh, bursting from my lungs. Oh really. I tell her, my face totally serious. Then I move my hand up and down over my face. When I move it down, I frown, when I lift my hand up, I grin at her. Aren't you hungry? I ask her finally, dropping my hand to my side limply. | |
