| Scene: There was a boy walking down the street. The air was cold, he had his hands in his pockets, his head inclined towards the ground. Once, he consulted a phone he retrieved from his jacket, other times, he looked up, his eyes sliding slowly down the street, checking street signs.
Yes, I knew it was in this area. And here I was, standing in front of an old jailhouse. I was at the end of the cliff, the only thing left to do was jump. I located a door in the alley and strode up to it. I gave a loud, confident knock and stood back. As I was waiting, I quickly ckecked my messages. Oh dear, I needed to log in to Gray Knows as soon as possible. I hoped they had wifi.

| %Ahhh, Kiwi! Your post count is 666 and your Sparkle is 6!!!! xD I hear a knock at the door, and freeze. Had one of Them found us? Slowly, I get up, and lay down the old Christmasy magazine with all the delicious looking cookies and cups of foamy hot cocoa. I grab a random pole from the side of the wall, and realize it was the stick of the broom that Diggs had been trying to get her rubber duck out from under the couch. It was really quite ridiculous, but she insisted that she had to keep him because he was the first thing she bought when she landed, and he had been with her the whole time she traveled across the country to get to the Hideout. I walk bravely to the door, and undo a lock. What if it was a Them, and I had just let them in? I push upstream through the thick river of fear, and pull open the door. I saw a boy, with a round face and bright eyes. He looked anything but evil. I keep the pole behind my back, and slide out closing the door and sealing home. Who are you? I ask wrinkling my nose at how young he looked, but how much his expression showed how much he thought of himself. | |

| Louis stood at the range in the kitchen, tending to the stir-fry he was preparing. It was a very big serving, most being for him and some left over for Cori. He usually didn't cook, but lately he'd been hungry more often: his shins were aching like he was getting ready for a growth spurt (hopefully, he thought, his last one). Out of the corner of his eye he saw someone going to the door, and turned his head to look. It was Cori, answering the knock on the door that he hadn't heard. He caught a glimpse of the man behind the door, young as well, and small, but unknown to him.
The Irishman, curiosity piqued, switched his skillet to the back burner and rolled down his sleeves. Walking to the door, he unclipped a small, plain barrette from his hair: it was embarrassing to wear, but his hair was in need of a trim and it got into his eyes while he cooked. The clip went into his pocket and he brushed a lock of hair out of his eyes. He stood behind the door and decided to listen to what was going on before opening the door.

| I looked up as the door opened. "Ah, right on schedule," I said, stepping forward. "You can call me Gray, yes, like the color gray. Ferguson, which is spelled as you would assume, f-e-r-g-u-s-o-n. I am fourteen years of age, and I fell when I was ten years of age. The star from which I fell was Rigel, Left Foot of the Central One. Through trials and triumphs, I have recently located and traveled to this home of other descendants of stars," I paused for a moment as my phone buzzed. "Now that you know who I am, please show me to my room." | |

| This kid sounds like a dick. Louis frowned and opened the door, slipping out and standing beside Cori. He stared down at the younger boy, giving him a quick once-over. Small, noodle-armed, baby-faced. Certainly smarter than Louis, he realized, but smarts never broke any teeth. | |

| "Another descendant," I nodded approvingly. "What is your population in this," I gestured towards the place. "Abode?" My phone buzzed again. Oh, how frustrating it was to be as popular as me. | |

| Some how, I felt much safer with Louis by me. Even though this guy was puny, and I could totally take him out if I needed to, something about having a big guy on your side was always comforting. Why have you just gotten here? I ask the guy still unsure about whether to believe him. | |

| Louis stayed quiet and stood behind Cori, arms crossed. In the back of his head he was only barely listening, more focused on when this whole conversation got over and he could go back in and eat that stir-fry. | |

| I debate whether to let the guy in just so we could get out of the alley with him being so forward and all, or to question him in the alley and prevent the risk of him being a really good lying Shadow. I chose the former. Irresponsible, of course, but still. Come in, and hurry. I tell him, and gently take Louis' hand just to feel more secure, hoping he wouldn't jerk away from me. | |

| Louis's face reddened considerably, but he hid it with a quick turn to open the door with his other hand. (He didn't jerk away, however.) | |

| I nodded, following the girl at a relaxed pace. "That is a most imprudent question. I have just gotten here because I have, there is really no other reason. Simply stated, of course. I know some descendants, other than myself, are a bit obtuse. Assuming you are slow, I repeat my original phrase. What is your population? And may I suggest a few changes to your living quarters? I know you must be under cover, but isn't this a little...drab?" I paused to hoist my messenger bag higher onto my shoulder. "You'll show me to my room? Rigel?" | |

| I squeeze the hand, and smile. We are not a hotel Mr. Ferguson. Yeah, we can show you your room, but soon enough more will be joining you. And remember, the whereabouts of the Hideout are absolutly secret, and not to be information for anyone. I tell him purposly avoiding the question about how many of us there were. | |

| I am horrified by her question. "Of course I know the hideout is a secret! It is not a hotel, isn't that obvious? If you are trying to be snooty, I can assure you that you are failing. And your name?" | |

| Louis gave Cori's hand a squeeze, trying to keep himself from punching the kid in the face. After a few moments, he let go of her fingers and moved to the rangetop, removing the skillet of stir-fry and separating it into two equal bowls. He knew the portion for Cori would be far too big for her to finish, but he had to be even about the servings even if she would probably give the excess to him anyway. | |

| I look up, and smile at Louis. Thank you. I tell him and take a bite. It was delicious. Probably tons better than the protein shakes he loved too. I was happy to see him eating some real food. I turn to the boy. I was just reminding you. And no, I'm not purposely trying to be snooty. But since you now are part of the Hideout, I reserve full rights to be clear with you and not have to beat around the bush. | |

| }Did I mention that the combination of Cori's and Gray's colors look really good on the page? And that Roxy's and Lazarus' look grotesque?
I shook my head and sighed at her stupidity. "Well, you might as well give me a tour. And I assume you have at least one computer, and a wifi network?"

| A strong feeling was growing in Louis's ribcage. It wasn't love, he knew what that felt like, and it wasn't pride, or a fast friendship. It was the feeling of wanting to punch someone in the face. He quickly finished off his bowl of stir fry to preoccupy himself from listening to the new kid. If he kept insulting Cori, though, ignoring might turn into restraining. ((Haha, Gray's color is cute. And Laz... of course it looks grotesque. It's Lazarus.)) | |

| I was beginning to get impatient. Didn't they know who I was and what I could do to help the society of the star descendants? "The least you two could do is tell me your names. Is that really so hard?" | |

| Enough was enough. Louis slammed his bowl onto the table and grabbed the boy by his shirtfront, lifting him into the air until his head was a good seven feet from the floor. | |

| "Cyclops?" he growled in his soft, uneven voice. The boy was lifted further into the air, as far as his arms could reach. | |

| "But I am so sorry," I replied from the air. "You speak. But for some reason it is a crime here to ask the names of the people I will be living with. And if you don't want me to treat you like a cyclops or a gorilla, then stop your animalistic way of holding me like you would a kitten and put me down so we may communicate not like the monkeys we are descended from but like the homo sapiens we have evolved into." | |
