I walked into the library. Even though the light was fairly dim, I kept my dark sun glasses on. I picked up a magazine and started flipping through it. Half my mind was on Lilly Allen getting engaged and half was on Preston and Massimo who were accompanying me. I made room on the bench for Preston to sit next to me. "We need to strike soon" I whispered in his ear.

Massimo's hearing wasn't good enough to catch the words being exchanged, but he hung nearby, looking through the books on drafting. He plucked a few books from the shelves and tucked them into his arm before moving to the new releases section and pawing through the dime detective novels. Once in a while he turned back to check on his new 'friends' and make sure they weren't running off without him.

"Here, Ma'am," I explain to an older lady. "The electronic check-outs are very easy to use. Scan your card under the red line-oh, other side. The one where the bar code is..." I take my place behind the library desk after she leaves. My eyes quickly scan the crowd of people entering the building. No suspicious activity detected.

I nod, and rub my hands together in anticipation. A notice a skinny girl with red hair looking around like she was expecting someone to attack her any second. It was that level of alertness that got you attacked. If you acted cool, then you weren't as likely to attract attention unless you were totally full of yourself cool. She, was acting flighty, and unsure, and that is the kind of behavior that shows weakness.

It's not like their going to kill me in the public library, right? I mean, then there would be witnesses. A trial, perhaps. Not what I assumed they wanted. So why not just poison my food or something? It would be smarter. Less excess. I slumped back in the chair behind the desk and waved the mouse around until the computer came to. Then I checked my email, which I wasn't supposed to do. Oh well. Nobody needed the librarians anymore, with the electronic check outs. My eyes followed another librarian who was grabbing a crate of books.
"Jane!" she beckoned. "There's another crate in the back. Come on!"
With a sigh, I closed the window and entered the back, hoisting a crate. I followed the lady into a quieter area and started sorting through the books.

The girl working the counter had left, Massimo noted. She seemed a little wary of his new friends, but then again, Massimo was wary of them himself. They were awfully shady, for some reason. The Italian shrugged it off, picked up a detective novel, and added it to his stack before returning to Them.

I finished my crate and the librarian waved me away. I began walking back to the desk, but my attention was snagged by the children's area. The kids were having story time, they were grouped around an older lady. She was animated as she read the book, and the kids were in a trance. I leaned on the door frame, a smile playing across my face.

Yeah, I know. What about that girl, she looks like a treat. Even if she is just a normal human. I say, and lean my elbows on my knees.

%Oh my gush! Okay, so what if we got both of them out of the library, and then since neither of them know that they are fallen, they have to work together and stuff, and then like....wait. My idea is not fully formed....

They were talking about something, and whatever it was it didn't really look good. Massimo opened his book on Frank Lloyd Wright and pretended to study the index as he glanced across the side of the page at them.

I continued watching until the story was finished. When I turned around I noticed the loiterers. The girl was pretending to look through a magazine, but I knew better. She was wearing sunglasses. That was suspicious, because who wears them inside a building? Behind sunglasses, you could stare at someone without them realizing. The next young man glancing around at everyone hungrily. And the last young man was standing by, not near but close enough to be associated with them. Just then, a child knocked over a magazine display only a few feet from the bench where they were sitting. I hid all my suspicions under a mask of confidence and strode over to straighten it.

Now? I ask impatiently thinking it would be best to get out of there with the boy and the chick before the girl who kept sending suspicious glances in our direction figured out we up to no good.

~okay, so Monster, you don't want Massimo killed by them right... So you could see that Jane is suspicious too and you guys could come up with a plan to get away, and then maybe figure out together what you are.

He glanced back at the library staff girl who was picking up the shelf and moved over to help her clear it up. "Here you are, miss," he said softly, smiling at her. "I take it you saw the suspicious pair over there, too?"

((Fight everyone off with a baseball bat <D Yeah right, nice plan. Hmm...))

I laugh lightly. "But you do know them?" I shrugged slightly in reply to his questioning. "I don't mean to act wary. I'm only trying to protect others, like the children. I get a strange intuition..."

"You're not the only one. They've been with me since we came from the cafe and I'm not entirely sure what they're doing." Massimo lifted a stack of books up and began replacing them on the shelves.

I narrowed my eyes at the couple. "They wouldn't do anything here, right? In the public library? And are they armed?"

I walk over to them, and smile toothily. I totally felt like the Big Bad Wolf. How does lunch sound, my treat. I offer them, and pull a book off the shelf acting interested in it.

How does lunch sound my treat? He might as well have a big sign on his forehead that said "Evil, I will eat you" I rushed over and tried to appear as normal as possible. They were already suspicious. "Just come for a quick bight to eat down at Taco Bell... You could come to I guess if you would like" I said as an after thought turning to the girl.

They were making a move. Massimo noticed that it was a bold one, and he couldn't let the girl get caught by whoever this couple was.

"She'd love to, but we have to get home now. Right, sis?" he said, turning to the girl who was suddenly now his sister. "Mom'll get mad if we're late again."

I went with it. "Yeah," I said agreeably. I glanced at the clock and nodded, confirming I was off, then smiled apologetically. "Sorry, but maybe another time. Chores, you know, and if we don't do them by dinner our mom'll blow a fuse."

I clench my fists. I wasn't about to let two tasty morsels get away that easily. But I decided to let Alicia talk, after all, I would probably attack them here and now if not for her.

"Oh so you two know each other. What a coincidence!" I said with fake excitement in my voice. I was sure it was too coincedental, that the star and the human were just teaming up because they defiantly knew something was wrong, and they were trying to leave. Now this just wouldn't do. I step to block their path. No point in trying to be nice now, they already knew. I just had to hide from the public our true intentions. "Listen you two, your going to turn around and head out the back door into that alley. You will do this perfectly calm because I have a gun under my jacket right now." I said in a whispered menacing tone. Of course I really didn't have a gun, but they didn't have to know that.

Damn. She'd called his bluff. "Alright, alright," Massimo said with a good-natured sigh, 'No need to get violent about it. Just let me grab my portfolio." He turned a little and reached for the portfolio, simultaneously moving a chair from in front of it and unzipping the tip enough for his hand to go into the opening and retrieve his baseball bat once he got outside.
