What. Were. They. THINKING?!

I shuffle down the hallway and squeeze through the door to the washroom; heaving the trash bag onto one of the washers. How could Cor and I go through so much laundry? I sort the darks from the lights and shove them into two different washers. Then I jump on top of the first washer and put my arms around my knees. The newspaper is lying on the dryer next to me, so I flip it over and study the front page. At a first glance, nothing looks different. The heading, article, picture. Then I actually look at the picture and see that it is not a tree falling in the street or a cop getting fired. It is Diggs, Smarts, and Sam. What the HECK?! I leaped off the dryer and stuck my head out the door. "Diggs!" I shrieked, and my voice bounced back and forth off the walls.

I jolt awake, hearing an angry voice that seemed to be in my dream but wouldn't go away. I roll out of bed taking my fuzzy black blanket with me. I wrap it around my body, and stumble down the hall. On my way, I meet a angry Roxy, not a good thing to meet. It's like going hunting for trouble; finding Roxy when shes mad. Whassamatter? I slur, rubbing gunk from my eyes.

"This is the matter!" I shriek, stuffing the paper in her face. "You. Are. Now. Being. Hunted. By. The. Police. Diggs comprehend? DIGGS COMPREHEND?"

I sleepily grab the paper from her, and stare at the paper for a few moments letting my eyes focus. Um. Yeah, this was not good. Maybe I can still play it off. I think frantically to myself. I pull my blankie tighter around me feeling a sudden chill. It's Smarts fault. I tell her staring at her flatly and crossing my fingers behind my back. Then I turn and walk away, squeezing my eyes shut hoping she wouldn't stop me.

"Diggs." I say her name with poisonous venom. "Tell me what happened."

I turn back to face her, and hold my hands up defeated. I'm probably not the best person to explain this... I murmur to her, shuffling my feet, and staring down avoiding her evil eye.

I sigh, and look at my hands. We were at the store and then there was a Them and so we beat him up and flew away on a shopping cart. I blurt out with out taking a breath.

I was walking near the laundry room door when I heard a very angry Roxy and caught a flash of Diggs. Oooooooohhhhh Diggs was in troooooooouuuuuuuuuuble. I decided to eavesdrop to see what it was all about. Then I saw the news paper Roxy was shaking in the air. Oh cra- HEY my hair looked pretty good in that picture. Sammy, that's not the point, I counseled my self. The point was that we were on the front page of a newspaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Occ: kiwi that newspaper is amazing!

I spot Sam in the hallway. "Get in here," I order. "Where's you sister?"

"Sister who?" I peer through the door, wringing my hair out from my morning run. I pull one leg up behind me and stretch. Then I look up and focus on the paper; lying in Roxy's tense arms. "Oh. So we're in the paper."

"It was their idea to blast out of the grocery store on a shopping cart," I state calmly. "I simply wanted to leave the store after one of Them attacked us, but no, we had to make a dramatic exit. I did enjoy the running part, however."

No, the shopping cart ride was definatly the best part. I argue with Smarts forgetting how much trouble I was in.

My breath comes out in a frustrated whoosh. If I was a cat I would have pinned my ears back, but unfortunately I was not a cat. "I am younger than both of you," I say, my voice escalating, "AND YOU ACT LIKE TWO FREAKING TWO YEAR OLDS WHO STICK THE HAMSTER IN THE TOILET JUST TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD WE HAVE WORKED TO STAY SECRETIVE? DO YOU KNOW YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST BLOWN OUR COVER COMPLETELY? I MEAN, COME ON!!!!!!"

Yeah, I sure felt like a two year old being harshly, and unfairly ridiculed by my grumpy old mom. Ha. Roxy, old lady. I chuckle despite all the crap I was now up to my head in. It would have been worse if we had walked out like nothing had happened, and started shaking the customers hands telling them a show would be held at the park next Saturday like Smarts thought to do. I say grouchily.

I felt hurt about the "dramatic exit" thing, because I thought it was a pretty brilliant idea! But whatever. I looked up at Roxy, my green eyes pleading "We had no choice. Them ataked us, and we had to get out of there. Please Roxy, please don't be mad" I put all my persuasion and remorse into those words, hoping Roxy would fall for it.

I grind my teeth. "Sam, you're no longer five years old. The puppy face does not work on a thirteen year old. Anyway, that doesn't matter. What matters is that because of your stupid actions, we are all in danger. I'm not going to give you the "talk" because I thought you would be more responsible, bla, bla, BLA!" I wave my arms around like a maniac until my heartbeat slows down. "For now, I want Diggs on bathroom cleaning duty, Smarts on vacuuming and tidying unoccupied cells, and Sam in the kitchen, cleaning the counters and doing the dishes. And that means even the toilets, Diggs, and thoroughly, and it means Smarts, all of the floors need to be vacuumed, even the rooms that no one has ever gone in, and Sam, that means all of the dishes, not just the ones in the sink. The ones piled on the counter, too. Sorry guys, I don't mean to be the wicked witch, but you got yourself into this situation!" I storm out of the laundry room and leave them to attack eachother, not me.

I start to protest, but then I just shut up and go to the closet, where I find the shop vac. I shove my ear buds in and turn Green Day up as loud as it goes.

I kick the washer making it stall for a few moments. Its not like we were sitting having a nice cup of coffee with the guy. I say cursing. [color=teal I always get bathroom duty![/color] I whine, walking out of the room dragging my blanket behind me like a little toddler. I didnt want to talk to anyone. I didnt want to do anything. I wanted to crawl into a hole and feel sorry for myself, but that was pointless.

%Oh my gush. Okay, so in my story, Diggs is actually always complaining about having bathroom duty; how ironic!?

I huffed, I hated washing dishes. Especially here, where there is no hot water. I made my way to the kitchen like a dog with it's tail between his legs.
