The World is a Better Place Because of Popcorn.

I grabbed a handful of buttery goodness and chomped on it. I was in the lobby of the Movie Theater, seeing a movie, but really star searching. I hear the opening titles playing and hurry to grab a seat in the back row. Never sit in the front where you can't see who is behind you.

I walked into the first building I saw, I wanted to explore this new place. When I entered the room, I fell in love. The most amazing smell in the world filled my nostrils. I looked into a room and saw another amazing thing, it was a freakin moving picture!!!! I smiled. I was going to looove it here!

I looked up from where I was sitting. Ah, they sure are popping up, I thought, recognizing the awed stare the girl was giving. I continued to watch her out of the corner of my eye.

I wondered what in the galaxy was making that woderful smell! I looked around searching for the source. I found small poping... things, that seemed to be the source. I walked over "Can I have one of those please, large!" I asked "Sure" the lady answered "That would be $3.75". Uh oh. 'Um, what" I asked

"I'll pay," I slipped out of nowhere and handed the lady two crumpled bills. "She's with me." I flashed the girl my best smile that secretly said, Don't say anything! and You can trust me!

I caught the look and closed my mouth tight, nodding slightly so she saw I understood.

"Oh," I said, faking surprise. "I forgot my sweater in the car, sister, honey. Let's go get it," I grabbed her sleeve and dragged her out to the sidewalk.

I fallowed the girl out the door. "I'm Olive" I said holding out my hand

"Hi," I said, my green eyes darting everywhere. "Roxy," I grabbed her outstretched hand and didn't let go, pulling her towards a bus stop, where I whipped out my cell phone and dialed. "So," I tried to see through her dark eyes, "New here...on Earth?"

"That obvious?" I said smiling. A wave of relief washed through me I was safe to tell her everything and that I was not alone.

"A little bit obvious," I smiled, my phone to my ear. "Hello? Cor? I found a pretty star that I thought you might want," I say. "You should come to the bus stop right away."

"Who is Cor?" I asked "Is she like us?"

"Cor is my sister. Twin sister, actually. She will be excited to meet you." I continued glancing around. "There," I said, pointing across the street. "I knew they wouldn't leave us alone for long." Two black hooded shapes were waiting at the crosswalk. I growled, still chewing on my popcorn.

I tensed at the sight of the figures. "What are they?" I wispered

"No one we want to say 'hi' to right now. Come with me," I duck back inside the movie theater. "We need to find another exit," I say hurriedly. They were crossing the street now, seeming to glide along the crosswalk. One stared straight at me. You can run, but we will always find you. Allllll......waaays.... The words grated across my mind and I resisted the urge to put my hands over my ears and scream. I saw stairs and ran towards them.

Exitment bubbled up inside me as I ran after her. This was going to be and adventure.

"Hurry," I skipped steps. And then I was on the roof. "Phew," I sighed, lookibg behind me to make sure the girl was still following. "What was your name?"

I ran up the stairs behind her. She turned and asked my name "Olive" I replied "Who the heck were they?" I almost yelled. "Sorry" I wispered

"Them," I murmured. "Tell you later about that," I grabbed her arm. "But for now, we need to jump to the building across the alley below us. On the count of three. One, two..." I could feel Them coming out onto the roof behind us. "Three!" I launched myself into the air.

I was about to jump when I remembered my popcorn. I sighed, I would have to live without it. But I had hesitated to long. Them were coming up behind me, one of them diving at my ankle. I lifted it up and gave him a good kick in the nose before jumping.

I heard one of Them cry out as I tumble onto the roof of the other building. "Nice," I say respectfully, getting up and examining her for any injuries.

"I'm okay" I announced as I tumbled onto the roof then stood up quickly."you all right?" I asked

"I'm fine," I say quickly, looking back across the alley at Them. "However, we need to get to safety."
