Completely shocked at her reaction, I quietly, but quickly reply, "You- you got shot by the guy in the car. Had to run away. You were g-g-gonna take me somewhere," I say more as a question than a statement. "They aren't following us anymore, I think."

Seeing her a little bit unsteady, I quickly get up and put my hand on her shoulder to try to help her. "It's okay. I'm actually starting to get used to this kind of stuff, surprisingly." I take a step and look back at her. "You're not going to explain what the heck is going on, are you," I state, sighing.

I sit back down. "Yeah," I laugh halfheartedly. "After a while, black clothed people attacking you with dart guns is just part of an everyday life of a Fallen." I flinch as I hit the spot on my neck. "I will tell you anything you want to know. It's about time."

I lean back on the bench and mutter, Mhhmm. And now it'll all make sense, I guess. The reason I was never adopted, the reason I can never be normal, the reason every year on November- I stop short and let her begin.

I was getting so experienced at telling this story. "You are a son of a star or a planet. You are not the son of a human. You will never be the son of a human. I am a daughter of Alkaid, the last star in the handle of the big dipper. All of us star kids, The Fallen, live together, we keep eachother safe. We all fell to Earth- some have a purpose, others fell by an accident that cannot be taken back. The people who were just chasing us- those are Them. They want to extinguish all light in the universe, no small feat, I know, and the stars are trying their hardest to prevent them. Some say that the stars or the planets- our parents, they have human forms, too. I don't know. Believe me, it is confusing. You just have to trust me, okay?"

My mouth drops to the floor as I take it all in. "My parent is a-a star? Wait but then- a star? B-but how do I know which one... how did I... why..." I try to understand what Roxy was telling me, but it was so hard to understand.

Oh.. okay. I say, sort of as a question. So then, what do I do? I don't have a home. I like in alleys and bus stops. What happens on my birthday? I begin freaking out, fearing that I would then be killed. So I can only be killed two days a year?

I smile slightly. "Yeah, you can only be killed twice a year. Calm down. You're coming with me, to where I live. That is," I say, hesitating, "If you want to. I didn't really give you an option before." I tuck my hands in my pockets and look at him, my hair blowing in my eyes. I didn't want him to know that I was about to pass out again. When you've just learned you are from out of this world, it's good to have someone standing steady.

I take a deep breath and shrug my shoulders. Sure, why not? I haven't got anywhere else to be. I suddenly realize an important question. So, Roxy, are there a lot of people like us? You said before that there were others... I let myself trail off and think of the possibility of having friends for the first time.

I feel goosebumps form across my arm at the thought of others like me never finding this "home" Roxy talked about. Well what can I do to help. It's the least I can do after you saved my life.

"Actually," I say, blushing a little bit, "You saved my life when they hit me with the dart. I owe you one." I pause for a moment. "But we'd better get going. They always find us eventually if we stay in the same place."

I smile and begin standing up, holding out my hand in case she was still a little dizzy. No problem, Roxy. And you'd better lead the way. I;m still trying to understand all of this.

I hesitate, then grab his hand. "Thanks," I murmur. "So now, we just need to get home without getting killed."
