Blue vs. Red

Subject: Blue vs. Red Sun Jan 02, 2011 4:14 pm

%Tee hee. I made it purple.

Cori puts on a pair of black sweat pants, and a white tee-shirt; simple. She grabs four sashes from her drawer; two blue and two red. She had already even made teams to come along on her Paintball Fiasco. Roxy would be red, along with Rocket, and Cori would be blue with Louis. She ties one of the sashes around her waist, and looks for the other teams.

I wake up, and just for the heck of it do a few push ups. I loved the way my muscles bulged, I loved it 'cause the ladies loved it. I wandered down stairs and made a bowl of cereal real fast. What would I do today?

Louis was already downstairs, resting for the day. It was his last day of recovery from his lost fight before going back to work: he had decided to watch a Gaelic footy game on BBC early on in the day before everyone else woke up and he had to go get his exercise in. The Liverpool Wolfe Tones were winning against the Dublin O'Raghallaighs (which pissed Louis off immensely, why should those left-leggers win at an Irish sport?) , and he was only barely watching anymore. Louis was more distracted by picking at the edge of a band-aid on his wrist from where the hand wraps under his gloves had burned his skin.

Location: The Hideout.

I didn't really mind the cold. Well, maybe during winter mornings when I trudged all the way down the hall to the bathroom wearing nothing but my pajamas, feet getting bluer by the second. It was then that I longed for hot water. I hopped from foot to foot, there were few shower stalls, and they were occupied. I don't know what I was expecting, though. Going from cold to colder. When I finally got under the water, frostbite was in my near future. I showered in five minutes and then hurtled into a towel.

When I finally made an appearance in the kitchen, I was wearing the warmest clothing I owned. My stomach was empty, so I cut a circular hole in a piece of bread, slathered butter on it, and threw it with a satisfying sizzle into the frying pan. I rolled an egg around in my palm and then cracked it onto the bread, where it settled into the hole. The warmth emanating from the pan was blissful, it was a shame when I turned off the burner and slid the toast onto a plate.

I slipped into the computer room, stealing a laptop. Then I padded down the hall and into the living room, armed with laptop and food.

Cori hums, skipping down the hall, and heading to the stairs in the living room. In her left hand, she held the sashes, and in her right, she held a cookie. A store bought chocolate chip cookie, but still. Stuff it in the micro wave and it really wasn't that bad. Cori just hoped the first person she ran into wouldn't be Roxy. Turns out, as soon as she enters the den, there Roxy was typing away on a laptop. She shove the cookie in her mouth and chew feriousiously. She brush the crumbs away with the back of her hand, and head over to her. Here. I want to have a paintball war. You're on Rockets team. Cori tells Roxy, and hands her a red sash. She notices Louis on the couch watching a sport show, and she smiles. Cori walks over to him silently, and puts her hands over his eyes. Guess who? She ask breathing hotly in his ear, and blushing.

I hear the TV on in the living room, and after I rinse my bowl, head down. I see a few stars lounging around, and go and sit next to Roxy just to bug her. Whatcha doing, doll? I ask her because I knew she hated when I did that to her.

Contact with Cori no longer caused Louis to blush furiously (though contact of any sort made him nervous to some degree anyway). He kind of took it all in step by now, after all the fussing she had done when he came home half-dead. Louis shook his head a little and lifted her hands off his eyes, glancing up at her. A half-smile, in greeting, appeared on his face before he looked back down at the game.

Well, Dublin was losing. He knew that much, and he didn't really want to watch the end being drug out any further. Louis glanced back up at her again and raised an eyebrow, silently asking what she wanted.

Cori hurtles herself over the couch, and sits down next to Louis, watching the TV for a few moments. She pulls out the blue sash, and hands it to him. Will you play with me? She asks quietly, starting to get nervous that he might say no.

Louis glanced down at the sash and took it without a second thought, mumbling something short and incomprehensible, probably 'sure' or 'okay' or 'Scotland'. He tossed the sash across one shoulder and under the other, typing it off on top of his right shoulder and wearing it like an ammo belt. Only in girly, pastel blue. He frowned at the TV and his losing countrymen.

"Paintball war?" I repeated. The next thought that entered my mind was, Great, I'm on Rocket's team. "Don't call me doll," I told Rocket icily. "That's sexist. I'm not a doll," I paused. "Well, idiot, looks like we're on the same paintball team," I threw the sash at him. I was considering refusing Cori's offer, but I had nothing to do except research cheap hot solar water all day. So I grudgingly closed the laptop and stood. "Well? Let's go," I glanced at my watch. "The bus leaves in five minutes, and we have to walk to the bus stop."

Cori smiles gratefully at Louis. Thank you. She mutters, and stands up. Yeah, lets go. She could tell that Roxy wasn't in the mood to go but she would any way.

I roll my eyes at her. "It's not that sexist." I reply, and smirk at her back as she walks out.

Louis turned off the TV and stood up as well, almost mentioning that he had a car but rethinking it because his car was a two-searer truck that only worked half the time anyway. He adjusted the blue sash on his shoulder and walked into the kitchen to put on his Notre Dame jacket and boots.

At the last minute, I grab my backpack and stuff my jacket inside. Then I go to the kitchen and get some granola bars, too.

Louis was the first to step off the bus, having been the last to get onto the bus. He took a few steps onto the sidewalk and turned, waiting for Cori.

Cori skips off the bus. and siddles up next to the hulking Louis. Although he was so much larger than her, she felt right at home next to him. And although she was dyng to grab his hand, she calmly resisted. Maybe someday he would care for her like that.

I followed the others, covering my eyes with my hand when the sunlight hit them. "Okay, so do you know how much this costs?" I asked, searching in my jacket pocket for a rubber band. Once found, I went upside down and pulled my hair into a ponytail. "I have ten."

Cori slides a hand in her back pocket, and pulls it back out after Louis takes his wallet out. She raises an eyebrow as if to say, 'You sure?'

I bend down, and open the velcro pocket on the side of my cargo shorts, and pull out a black wallet. It probably cost more than I had in there, but what ever. I saw the look that Louis and Cori shared, and eyed Roxy trying to see if she noticed. I could do the same to Roxy, but she would get pisssssed. I shouldn't be more than that.

I paid for myself and ignored Rocket, because I wanted to get him back for the sexist remarks. Then I opened the door, not bothering to hold it open, and stomped inside to get my gear on.

}I've never played pinball and I have no idea what you wear. Help!

Louis stepped to the counter and paid for his and Cori's fees and equipment, then turned to the door, following Roxy, making sure he held the door (to some awkward degree) for Cori. But not Rocket.

((Everyone is either ignoring or being mean to Rocket <D Also, Kiwi, have I mentioned how much I love reading Dev's posts and seeing your icon?))
